What a great list of resources. Thanks. I'm sure I will refer to it again whenever I have CD issues. I tried the applicable options, but they didn't resolve the problem. The actual cd/dvd worked fine. For some reason, the drive didn't show up in windows
explorer. Other programs seemed to fnid it without any difficulty . I stumbled across a free utility, Ghostbusters 38421, which eliminated the phantom drive. However, I picked up a lot a of useful information just going through your list of tips. Thanks
