Pentium G3258 Error 0xC1900101 - 0x20017

• Disable (preferrably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before attempting the upgrade.
• Restart a few times and try again.
• Disable General USB Devices (example - Smart Card Reader). 
• If you are using a SCSI hard disk, make sure you have drivers available for your storage device on a thumdrive and it is connected. During Windows 10 setup, click the Custom Advanced Option and use the Load Driver command to load the appropriate driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and setup still fails, consider switching to a IDE based hard disk.
• Do a clean boot and try again.
• If you are upgrading using the .ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during setup, if you are connected by LAN (Ethernet) or Wi-Fi, disable both and attempt setup again. 
• If you are updating through Windows Update, when the download reaches 100% disconnect from the Internet LAN (Ethernet) or Wi-Fi and proceed with the installation.
• If that does not work, try using the .ISO file to upgrade if possible.
• If you are connected to a domain, switch to a local account
• If you have any external devices attached to the machine, disconnect them (example, gaming controllers, USB keys, external hard disc, printers, non-essential devices).

I fully reset the BIOS, disabled all but one core, & removed my GTX760 and still no install.

My configuration:

Windows 7 Pro x64 (Installed as EFI boot, all updates are installed)

Pentium G3258 using the Intel HD graphics.  Disabled all overclocking features and set to use only one core

ASRock H97m-ITX/ac motherboard with the latest BIOS update (1.70 on 5-29-2015)

8GB Crucial DDR3-1600 memory (256MB shared by default)

SanDisk Ultra Plus 256GB SSD

Samsung DVD burner

No USB devices attached.

This is like the 20th time I've tried to install with the same stop error. 0xC1900101-0x20017 after a quick double reboot.

Come on Microsoft!  There are thousands of these processors out there!  We need a fix.

Hey guys, So I've gotten this error every time I've tried to install Windows 10. This is the error: 

0xC1900101 - 0x20017

The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation

MS please fix this, I need Windows 10, and It's very frustrating. Seems like it's only happening the G3258 owners...

I got mine (somewhat) solved.  The guys at AsRock provided a quick temporary fix by releasing a BIOS  (Version 1.80) the uses the microcode update 19.  It effectively disabled overclocking the cores of the processor (memory bus still overclocks), but I can at least run Windows 10 with both cores operating at stock frequencies.  Hopefully this is a temporary solution that MS will make unnecessary with a patch to how Windows 10 works with the G3258.  Or maybe Intel is at fault here.  I don't really know.  I just know someone (MS or Intel) needs to provide a full fix so I can get what I paid for when I bought the Pentium G3258.  For now I'll just be happy that the system runs.  I DEFINITELY DO expect this to be fixed very soon.

I applied the given fix (rename "C:\Windows\System32\mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll" with a different file name extension) and my system is back to running at 4.2GHz with both cores enabled.  Of course, you do have to get Windows 10 installed prior to the fix even being possible to do, but going to a single core just for the upgrade is not too bad.  I don't think it slowed the upgrade installation much, if any on my desktop. (about 25 minutes)

This seems also to be a better fix than updating the BIOS to one that includes the new Microcode 19 since that disables overclocking the cores of the processor entirely. :(

I have been trying to install windows 10 on y gigabyte MB dual G3258 cpu computer since July 31 before finding out the problem is with the G3258s. 

So how to I find out when MS provides a fix for this? The single core method took me to a blue screen.
