Hi,

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

What is the make and model of the computer?

Disconnect all the external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) drives, etc...) Except mouse and the

keyboard and then try to upgrade.

Also refer to the help articles below and check if it helps:

I've done several clean installs of Windows 7 letting it go through the updates, and every time Windows 10 is available I'm getting this (or other) errors. Tried clean installs of 10 from three separate USB drives, same result as well. The ports work with everything else that gets plugged into them, so my USB ports aren't the issue either. Spent the better part of two weeks swapping phone calls with Microsoft tech support and never got it working. Hopefully a fix is being developed, because I loved 10 on my laptop.

I have attempted to download Window 10 three times at approx. 5 hours each.  I have received numerous error codes (7 to be exact) and not one error code correction has worked.  The last time, I apparently  got it down loaded and was installing which later changed to "installation failed"!  I have a Dell 760 Window 7 Pro and 694 gigs free space, everything disconnected except keyboard and mouse.  Rather disappointing!

It doesn't work.  We clean installed over 2 weeks ago...still doesn't work.  I have spent over 24 hours on the phone with "Tier 2" trying to get help.  It's a different story every time.

I've tried to upgrade 4 times. With the amount of time I have spent trying to get Win 10 to download, install and work is ridiculous. Every time I get error code #8007025D and revert back to Win 7. Disconnected everything not necessary to run and still same thing. Try clicking link for "get help with this error" and it doesn't work (tells you that Windows help can't start). Another link presented for help takes you to a Windows site in Dutch. I don't care if this upgrade is free, I'm tired of this ****. I will be switching to Linix and sending them a donation.

I have a HP ProBook 4720s. The hard drive crashed for I replaced it. Reinstalled Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and Windows update told me there were over 160 important updates. After 3 days of trying to download/install updates gave up and bought Windows 8.1 Full Version 64 bit. Installed it, ran windows updater and installed updates. Finally got the Windows 10 update notice. Have now spent over 80 hours watching as Windows 10 download, attempt to install, fail and revert back to Windows 8.1.  Finally gave up and purchased Windows 10 Home download from Amazon with Product Key:  xxxxx Removed xxxxxx.

Guess what, my computer after redeeming Windows 10, Microsoft tells me that this Product Code doesn't work! Now, after buying Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, I still have computer running Windows 8.1. The Get Windows icon is on my desktop and believe it or not, I've watched as Windows 10 downloaded, attempted to install, fail and revert back to Windows 8.1 four times in two days! This is the hardest I've ever worked for a "free" update and your help site has proven useless in correcting this fiasco. Will Microsoft reimburse me for the Amazon purchase since you won't recognize the Product Key?

Hi Kenneth,

Issues with installation are being resolved bydisabling the Antivirus software and also by unplugging the external devices.

I would suggest you to disable antivirus and check the issue.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Note: Before updating, make sure you have installed all available updates to your PC.

You may also run a system file checker scan and check if there are any corrupt system files.

SFC (System File Checker) is a tool which scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of the system files by using the correct versions.

Refer the following article for more information on using SFC tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files:
