Ring app from Microsoft store not logging in

Since 3 days now the Ring App from the Microsoft store will not let me log in. It gives me the following error.

Ring so far is the only app that gives me this error all others still work.

Error code is 0x80131500

I have done all sorts of troubleshooting suggested here nothing works. What is causing this and what's the fix? I see many others getting the code and no help on fixing it is given. What gives there has to be a fix.

Cleaned the store cache / restarted the pc

Uninstalled the Ring App and reinstalled it

Reset the Ring App

Region / time is set to the right one ( even changed it to see as suggested)

Ran troubleshooter (no issues found)

Did a system file check (no issues found)

Called ring for support 3 days ago (waiting to hear back from them)

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand the concern as you are unable to login to Ring app on your PC. We appreciate your time and effort in troubleshooting the issue. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

  • What is the Version and Build of Windows 10 installed on the PC? (Type winver in Windows search/Run command)
  • Are you aware of any changes on the PC prior to this issue?

In this scenario, we would suggest you to create a new user account with administrative rights and sign-in to Microsoft Store using the same account and try to install the game. Creating a new user account will not remove any data, app, or settings from your current user account, this is just a troubleshooting steps to eliminate the possibility of user profile corruption. Refer this article to create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10

Also, we would suggest you to refer the steps as mentioned in this article: Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store

Let us know the results. If the issue persists, we will certainly assist you further.

Version 2004 (OS Build 19041.630)

Not aware of any changes  prior to the issue.

It started after I changed my log in password for the ring app before that it was working just fine.

Did all in the fix problems with apps link you send nothing worked.

There is no update for the store it self. All other apps work just fine so it has to be an issue with Microsoft and Ring.

Why do I need to create a new account? That makes no sense to me. To create a new account I will have to use another email I don't want to do that. It has to be a Microsoft store and ring app issue because its doing it on all of my computers we have 3 total. One of them has their own separate Microsoft account from mine and there we still can't sign in either in the ring app.

Hi I had this issue and found it was my Add blocker causing the issue. i put Ring into the whitelist and it now logs in Ok. I hope this helps some people.

Hello, I was facing a similar issue where it said error 403 from server.  I traced out the calls behind the scenes and found the ring server indeed responding with a 403 with this in the details, {"error":"2sv-method-not-allowed","error_description":"2FA method not allowed"}.  A while back ring forced all users to multi-factor authentication for security reasons, I was still using e-mail for multi-factor, so the fix in my case was to log into my ring account in the web UI, and setup a mobile phone to receive the code for two step verification. (Account --> Manage Account --> Two-Step Verification --> Manage)
