After kb4534310 installed, every bootup replaces my graphic wallpaper with a black solid colour

I've tried creating a new theme, tried renaming transcodedwallpaper.jpg to .old, but although these changes allow me to restore my graphic wallpaper, after restarting, the desktop wallpaper is black again.

Icons and start bar colour are unaffected.

The only solution was to uninstall the update. But now my pc is less secure.

Microsoft, please fix this!

Update: Thanks to those who posted workarounds. Whilst I have implemented the workaround, I had to resize my wallpaper to perfectly match my screen resolution, otherwise it looks awful without selecting 'Stretched'. It seems to stay upon restart. But I can't mark this as solved because the security update bug has not been actually fixed and continues to limit how I choose to use my wallpaper.

Just run a reputable Anti Virus Product only ( But not a full suit which combines clean up tools and other add ons ) and complement it with a Anti Malware Product such as Malwarebytes Free.

Be prudent as to the sites you visit.

You should be ok.

FYI:

Seems that Microsoft changed their mind and will release a fix for everyone...

Below support article got updated on Jan 27, 2020...

It now says

"We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release, which will be released to all customers running Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1."

Is this update for the Jan monthly roll-up KB4534310 only? I don't see the same issues or update for the Security only KB4534314?

1. Looks like it... I'm not working for Microsoft, so I do not have any more information than what's floating around in the internet ;)

2. As you correctly say: Microsoft has not updated their KB4534314: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4534314/windows-7-update-kb4534314

It still says: "Microsoft is not currently aware of any issues with this update."
