Skype Insider Preview // Release Notes for Skype 8.77.76.91

The latest Insider build 8.77 was fully released and this is what we were working on.

 

What’s new?

New Call Screen Grid: UI improvements where you can easily see who's talking - a white border around the that participant, and if there is a raised hand, the border is yellow. Participants joining through audio will also be visible on the call stage, and the top tray is bigger too. There is also an option to show yourself on the call screen grid.

Modernized UI improvements: New notifications/activity tab look, new look for the header and footer on Desktop and Mobile

Video rendering improvements: on Android, iPhone and iPad

Group Profile screen to support new avatar selection options from the MeetNow creation board: emoticon or sticker on colorful background + uploading photo (which already is there)

Bug fixes and stability improvements

Why there is no mention about the most important innovation in the latest Preview release - the "New call screen"?

This "New call screen" feature was already introduced with the previous Preview 8.76.76.119 release.

Hello,

My team just updated Skype 8.77 for Mac and the most critical feature for us was missing. The calling settings did not have an NDI toggle. We double checked that NDI was on by default but none of our NDI devices had access to Skype feeds. Was NDI removed from this version or has the setting been moved to another location? Please advise.

Apologies for this error. I brought it to the attention of the Engineering team and we found the issue. The team is working on it. Workaround - Windows version should work.
