SharePoint Online 'Embed' web part, embedded content not rendered correctly

I am having an issue with the 'Embed' web part. When pages are loaded/refreshed, all the embedded contents have a gray preload box over them. For example, we have a social media feed and Vimeo video embedded on the page. They have a gray box overlay as the page is loaded or refreshed, but the box goes away as soon as users hover over the box. We noticed the issue less than a month ago.

Does anyone have the same issue or know why it is happening? Is there a setting to get rid of the box overlay?

Here are examples of the gray box over the Embed web part.

Here are the examples after the hover. The embedded contents are loaded and rendered correctly.

Thank you in advance.

Hi 222lovebirds,

We appreciate that you posted back and confirmed the scenario with us. We also appreciate that you spent your precious time doing those tests.

We have tested it again on our side, and we embedded vimeo video in Embed webpart and we found we can reproduce the same situation as yours, as shown below:

And we have also tested it on our with File Viewer webpart, we uploaded some files and we also found it will appear PDF and Word icon, as shown below:

And we have also tested with different pages and sites, and we can reproduce the same situation as yours. When hovering on the webpart, the icon will disappear. And only Microsoft Stream video doesn’t have such gray box.

Given this situation, we assume that the developer team used such code to format webpart in SharePoint Online, and we do understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.

So to address your concern about the situation, we’d suggest you go to SharePoint UserVoice to provide your feedback. This is the best platform to let us hear from you and make our products and services better for you and others.

At the same time, we assume this can be changed via using code format, if you want to learn more about how to use code to change webpart format, we’d suggest you go to Microsoft Q & A forum – SharePoint Development to post a new thread, which is specific channel to handle such situation. And engineers in those forum are very proficient in the knowledge of these codes.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Sukie
