Symptoms:
When I start my xbox one, I will frequently get no audio, or far less often I will get HDCP has failed and the video cannot be seen. If I "xbox turn off" and turn it back on, it will sometimes fix the audio issue. fixes the problem. This happens the majority of power up, and maybe 50% of the time when changing channels or starting playback of a recorded vieo.
As stated above, this issue will also manifest when changing the channel on my TiVo will sometimes cause the audio to stop working, or conversely if the audio is working, cause it to come back. Also have the same experience with playing something that is recorded.
XBOX audio works fine. Just will not pass what is coming from the TiVo
Correcting the issue:
As stated above, if I have no sound, sometimes changing the channel or playing a recorded video will reestablish the audio. Not always successful. Also changing the video source on my AV Receiver to something else and then back will sometimes fix the problem. Re-seating the HDMI input on the back of my XBOX will often correct it, but not always.
Things I have tried to resolve:
I have tried getting all new HDMI cables (higher quality but Amazon Basics brand). Problem persisted.
Checking all my AV settings on AV Receiver and TV to ensure CEC is turned off.
Bypassing the xbox one seems to solve the problem but since it is intermittent really need a larger sampling size to make sure
Replaced AV receiver (previous Onkyo was replaced with Sony)
Connections:
TiVo Roamio Pro <-> HDMI <-> XBOX ONE <-> HDMI <-> Sony AV Receiver <-> HDMI <-> Samsung TV
Conclusions:
Since the problem is pretty intermittent, I doubt it is some overreaching compatibility problem. to me it seems something is flaky with with the handling of HDCP handshakes.
