I have had recent issues with my Xbox, in which it will shut-off at random moments in mid-game. I assume it may be overheating because before it began this it was making a buzzing sound, yet I have no clue or any idea of what else it is. It will restart after a while, but shuts down again after playing for 10 to 15 minutes. Been doing this for a couple weeks.

Issues with your Xbox 360 console can often be resolved by removing temporary files and data from the system cache. The cache stores such items as game updates, system update installation packages, and gamer pictures of your friends.
Clearing the Xbox 360 cache does not remove:
•Your gamertag
•Content that you have downloaded
•Game files
•Console software updates
Clearing the cache temporarily removes:
•Previously downloaded game updates. You will be prompted to download these updates again the next time you try to play the games.

I would invest in a fan for your xbox 360. Gamestop has a few models to choose from

It will tell if it's overheated. S Model: It will warn you that it's shutting down because of overheat. Original Model: 3 Lights. This maybe an issue with the power line in or the power supply... When the 360 shuts down what does the Power Supply light up as?

3rd party coolers are not advised by any means. Overlapping a fan with another fan doesn't help at all. The best answer is calling support if there is nothing you can do for a repair request.

This can be caused by a couple of things:
1- Overheating. - this is common in older xbox's more than the new slim models, but your problem sounds like there is internal damage to your system causing it to overheat. DO NOT buy any aftermarket fans. They are not only loud, but they're in no way a good replacement for a broken core fan. Instead, send in your xbox to microsoft for repair.
2- Power Source. - A faulty power cord, or domestic electrical problem may lead to power not being properly delivered to your console. Check the color of the light on your power cord, it should be green. If it is orange, the problem may lie in the power source. To fix this, you can try moving the point of power (plug it in somewhere else) or try resetting your home's circuts
3- Bad Disk Tray. - While VERY uncommon, disk trays can lose their duribility and jump around, but this usually only stops the game, not shut's down the console. It very well could i'm sure. Again, a call to microsoft may get your xbox fixed.
...Really hope this helps some!

Do you have a universal controller? It could be that in mid-game you accidentally sit on the button to shut the console off. Or someone is just bullying you and secretly shutting it off for you while you're playing.
You might find this to be a joke, but believe me, people have been tricked like this before...
