Xbox Live Gold Membership: I am still charged for the free game?

Hi, 

I started my Xbox Gold membership trial a few days ago. After evaluating I decided to make a paid subscription, which I did today. I bought the one-year membership. After that I tried downloading the free game "Gears of War", yet the system still wants to charge me for it!

Please advise me what to do, the offer expires in 2 days and I would really like to take advantage of this offer.

P.S. Somewhere I read that the paid subscription only becomes active AFTER the trial expires. Does this maybe have something to do with it?

Which account did you add the gold membership to?  I ask this because the account you're posting with is showing as Silver only.

If this is the account that you added the membership to and you used the code on the website you can speed up the load process by going to System>Settings>Network and running a Connection Test from the 360 dashboard.

If you accidentally added the membership to another account you can contact phone support and have them switch it for you.

Onyx' post above was true at the time of posting about you showing as Silver, but you are now appearing as Gold, even here.

As such, go ahead and try the download again and it should now tell you it's free.

I'm now having that problem with oxenfree, its trying to charge me $19.99 :(
