Hey guys!
My Xbox 360 hasn't given me any trouble all summer, but about a week ago, the visuals (and sound) started to act up. It usually only happened between load screens: I would be playing Oblivion, and while waiting for the next cell to load, the screen would go black and the TV would blink with a "signal lost" message. After a couple seconds, the visuals would be restored and I could go on playing like nothing happened. However, the problem has been getting progressively worse. Now the visuals will cut out while I'm simply walking around, or in the middle of a match on COD, and this will either happen several times in short bursts, or will stretch on for thirty seconds or more. The same message appears on the screen, saying that the "signal" has been lost. The Xbox is still running - it isn't making any odd noises or whirring - and the game is continuing to play (much to my annoyance and the chagrin of my kill ratio). I'm starting to wonder if it isn't just the cables that are having a problem, but I've unplugged and replugged them several times with no change. The cables are rather old - they're the same ones from the original Xbox 360 Elite pack we bought somewhere around the 360's initial release - so it's possible that they're just wearing out. But before I go out and hunt down new cables, I wanted to see if you guys had any other suggestions.
As I said, the cables are those that came in the original packaging. The Xbox 360 is one that was sent to us after our first one gave us one of the Red Rings as a warranty replacement somewhere around a year ago. Describe the issue you are seeing. The console itself isn't giving me any error messages, only the TV telling me that there's no signal (which is the same message it gives me when I turn it on before I turn the Xbox on).
