Spoofing Attack Xbox Live

It appears that some folks think that they have found a way to get an advantage while playing some online games.

If other users find out your IP, they initiate a denial of service spoof attack on you which can get you booted from the online server, or slow your connection down enough that you cannot adequately defend yourself in the games.

I have recorded two of the attack IP addresses and will begin a list for my own use.

The Whois internet sites are identifying each and I have saved them for future investigation.

(One came from Cambridge, MA and the other from Redmond, WA.)

I don't know if any of the smart folks at Microsoft are reading these, but you might want to look into this.

Quite frankly you'd be better served making a list of people who didn't know about this going on. As ever file a complaint via your console and at your discretion get the police involved.

The only issue with MS being able to do anything about this is that a denial of service attack doesn't hit just your Xbox and it doesn't come across Xbox live. It's an attack on your internet connection as a whole, directed at your ISP provided external IP, which MS has no direct control over. Your best course of action with this is to contact your ISP and see is they can assist you in defending your connection.

This is highly illegal, and not an issue with the LIVE service, since it originates from the web, not LIVE. Please contact your local law enforcement to report these attacks.

I noticed that this seems to still be going on. Especially tonight, a few friends and I were playing all the sudden my screen freezes and it kicks back up again and I am dead by a guy who wasn't even near me, and I had all four bars of connection every time, just when certain players would get near me.

this happens 2 me alll the time on RED DEAD Redemption and its so annoying one night i was frozen 8 times in 1 hour in the end i played in a private session with some freinds  . People who do this  do it just 2 spite people online its a cheap shot i can live with glitchers and the odd mod or 2  but hackers really are on another level .1 guy follows me online if i see him join my session i leave thats if i catch it intime it spoils the game not just 4 me but 4 everyone.

in my opinion  these people should be named shamed and banned from xbox live they clearly have no interest in playing games online they just come on 2 spoil the online gaming experience 4 every1.

You're going to have to file a complaint against the offenders before anything can be done. I would point you in the direction of calling support but you'd most likely be taken back here to the forums.
