Hello, i have been an Xbox gamer, supporter, and fan for a very long time now. Ive been using a Linksys Wireless-G Gaming Adaptar by cisco Systems For about 5 or 6 years now. From time to time i would get this error and DNS errors but this was about every 2 -3 months awhile ago when i first got it. Our old router decided to die on us because it was about 6 years old as well, we got a new router, set up the wireless, and everything connects fine exxcept the xbox, which cannot obtain the IP from the new router. I have tried EVERYTHING for this. Manuel IP config, restarting everything, turning off this and that , etc. the two things i havent tried are MAC filtering and DCHP(?) fix. before i got the new router and got this error these two fixes were not needed to get back online. Is it time to get a new Adapter for the xbox? i think that is the problem, im new to these forums so pardon any mistakes or any nooby-ness. All suggestions are open please. i just want to know what i need to do for this error to cease

You have an older linksys game adapter correct? Are you still using it to bridge the xbox to the router? I was having difficulty getting my old Linksys game adapter to accept new settings for my new router and was stuck with WEP. I no longer use it as I run wired but would like to purchase a newer wireless bridge. Did you set up the new router exactly like the old for wireless?

Yeah, you're going to have to plug your adapter into the computer to configure it. And depending on which adapter you have, you may need to downgrade your security from WPA to WEP.
