Can't spend Microsoft Account Money on Xbox

the website is not set up to use MS currency from the converted points you would need to have a payment method on file to buy anything from the site.  but if you buy from the 360 you will have no problems.

Wait a minute. I had points that weren't spent when microsoft decided to change from points to dollars. Where is that money? I couldn't find anything here on xbox to tell me. All I was able to find was a link to my microsoft account, which told me I had $13.50 still there? I never put money in or even knew I had a microsoft account, but assumed it was from xbox since xbox site linked me there! This is crap. I have money for points I purchased for my xbox and now I can't spend them? WTH! And from FAQ's on MS account there is an expiration date. How can there be an expiration date if its my real money I purchased for points!?!

Secondly, I just tried via xbox 360, went to the marketplace, selected the game, but told me I had to pay by credit card. No option for my remaining points or an ability to find them. Microsoft and updated and changed everything I'm so lost and confused, spendings hours to find simple information that should take moments!

get a visa or mastercard GIFT card from 7-11, use that as your credit card to verify your billing info, after the download, spend the credit card so that xbox doesn't use the money in it.

If the game costs more than the amount of currency you have on your account then you need to select the credit card option and it will let you use the currency first.  If not it should be offering you the option to use the currency, if you aren't you may want to re-download your profile and/or clear your cache.  support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache

I don't know why MS chose to make the converted points expire, but it ISN'T real money, it's virtual currency that exists only on the Microsoft servers, they just renamed it to match up with local currencies.

I have had the same problems. personally i choose psn over microsoft but i have 80.17 on that *** account and i cant spead a penny. when can we get some real professionals up in this *** and help us with our issues?

I was experiencing this issue as well - it seems Xbox 360 games cannot be purchased through the website using money in your Microsoft Account.  This issue does not exist with Xbox One games.

I can purchase Titanfall (Xbox One) using my credits, but I see no such option when trying to purchase Skyrim.

I can make the Xbox 360 purchase from the console using my credits without issue.  I would recommend attempting to make the purchase from your console.  While not as convenient, it should allow you to use your credits.

Ya you need to go on your console to buy games with Microsoft credits (points, money whatever)
