I'm having a problem for my windows 8.1 checking update. I just bought a laptop ASUS few weeks ago and previously the windows update was fine but after couple of days I think of windows 10 and want to upgrade. So, by that time I click check for update although it says no update are available but still check for it. Usually it says no update are available and the latest verision or something right. But mine is still running in checking update non-stop until I have to over night just to wait for that running checking windows update after I check the next day still running and I check my windows update setting for automatic update already. So, I check for troubleshooting for windows update, while troubleshooting it and resolve it fix it, the checking windows update it stopped and there is an error occur. I tried few methods to fix it and google it or try find any solution in Microsoft official website but still can't solve it. I download the check for troubleshooting for windows 10 whether my windows can upgrade to windows 10 or not. It detected my windows was not the latest version. Please HELP!

Hi all, I am having an interesting problem with my troubleshooter and thought i would throw it out to this community. So here is where i am: trying to rebuild my system carefully after a catastrophic snowballing of blue screens and OS corruption most likely caused by an update to 8.1.

I just installed an update and got an error message that is likely a connectivity problem, and my update history is oddly blank when it should not be... so I went through everything in the windows update troubleshooter for insight so i can catch the snowstorm early, if it does happen again.

the troubleshooter does not appear to work correctly AT ALL. please correct me if i am wrong, but isn't the function of a troubleshooter to find and identify system problems????? my troubleshooter assumes all problems are caused by the user him or herself - that the user is stupid and doesn't know how to work windows. all feedback doesn't state, but contains the implied assumption (necessary assumption) that the system is working perfectly fine but the user just cant figure out where things are. i would call this a tutorial, not a troubleshooter.

it is also profoundly arrogant titling, if you think about it.

I type in error codes and find information, but OUTSIDE the microsoft community in various sorts of geek pages.
