Most of these calls originate from countries that are outside Western Law Enforcement jurisdiction.
And this has been happening for many years to 1,000s of people evey day all around the world.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
It is a Scam.
Microsoft will never contact you with cold-calls, popups, etc.
This is the advice given to anyone who has any phone calls, etc. like this about Malware, License Expiry, etc.
And your machine does not send out messages to anyone saying that it has problems or is infected with Malware, etc.
We all have errors and warnings in our event viewer, which is another ploy they use to scare you
These so-called "Microsoft" Tech Companies either want to sell you worthless software, or gain Remote Access to your Computer to try and steal your Banking and Credit Card details and to also carry out an Identity Theft on you.
You are the only one who knows if you have given them Remote Access.
If you have given them Remote Access and if you do Internet Banking, contact your Bank, explain it to them and change Passwords.
If you use your Credit Card online, cancel it and get a new one issued to you.
And the only way that you willl know that you are free of them is to save your Data and do a clean install of your Operating System.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
And Microsoft does not contact you, unless YOU have made prior arrangements with them to do so.
There is a section in the link I am supplying you about this at the end of it

I had the same call, same message from Kathy Jackson. Why hasn’t Microsoft put the word out officially to their customers. Most people jump at the chance of a refund.
They left a voicemail on my home phone. Kathy Jackson (robot voice) saying she was from Microsoft refund department, please do not hang up, you have paid for your technical support, the company has been ordered to close please call 270-804-4116 for your refund.
When I called I was told by a foreigner that they were forced to shut down their Windows 10 servers and they wanted to refund my money For my contract with them because they cannot longer support the contract. As an IT person there are so many things wrong with all of this information. I played along for a little while when they told me to get my computer and go online so I can fill out an online form. Their first question was what do you see on your computer. I asked what did that have to do with the online form? And he said just tell me what you see on your computer. I said no tell me where I can find the online form. And he hung up.

Got the same phone message today. I don't pick up 800 number calls, I always listen to see if they leave a message.
Same robot message you got, the same name, but a different phone number to call back. (800-376-4805).

I received severral calls as well and this guy gave me a foreign name. So the first time I called I was told they owed me $299.99 from 2016 and when I asked them why I needed to be in front of the computer he sa8d because the original transaction was done over the internet. I saiid that should make no difference and they could just write me a check for the amount and we couldd call it a day. He kept insisisting I be in front of my computer. I said no this is a scam and he hung up. I called back 5 minutes later and another guy claimed Microsoft owed me $499.99 Iasked for his info and he said his name (foreign name, I guess they got the memo that Andy Smith didn't work with the accent) and gave me Ms1207 for his id#. He also insisted I get in front of my computer. I told him I still wasn't clear how he got in touch with me and he said through the transaction with Microsoft. I said okay so can you give me the address and he wanted me to give him my phone number so he could check it.. I was like you called me and now you don't have my number?? He said yes we have lots of calls and we have you in our data base by your number. So he came back with my husbands name and I said yes can you supply me with the he address and he gave me the wrong address. At this point I said how is it possible I have a refund if the address isn't combabtible, he started blowing smoke at their point. Then after a minute I let it slide and asked him where was he locates. He promptly stated Washington DC. I said oh okay. How far are you from Arlington? He tried to blow me off but I wouldn't have any of it. Finally he said 1000 miles away. I said wrong, and your are full of it. How do you sleep at night? But by that time he hung up. They're so stupid. They call back anyway and leave messages. It's ridiculous. We shouldn't have to pay the phone Co. to have numbers blocked.
The very first time he called I got aggravated quickly and told him this was a scam and he called me a f*"@#ing A hole. Unreal. Apparently down don't like to be called out.

I just received this email today. Glad to know it's a scam! Bad spelling, bad grammar, poor formatting, and a gmail address? Not exactly Microsoft standards, but I wanted to look into it to be sure!
