Windows 8 No sound after sleep

I installed Windows 8 on my HP G60 laptop. Now when it comes out of sleep mode there is no sound. I have to turn the laptop off and then back on to get sound. Any suggestions of how to fix this?

I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if it helps.

Method 1:

I would suggest you to run the audio troubleshooter after waking up the computer from sleep mode and check if it helps.

a. Press Windows key + W to search Settings.
b. Type “Troubleshoot” without quotes and click on Troubleshooting.
c. In the new window, click Hardware and Sound.
d. In the list of options, click on Playing audio.
e. Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: I advise you to check the sound status in device manager when sound stops working.
Press Windows Key +R, type devmgmt.msc to open the Device Manager.
 
Method 2:
 
Refer the steps from the following Microsoft article and check if it helps.

Try to uninstall and re-install the sound drive and check if it helps.
Follow the steps to uninstall the sound drive:
a. Press Windows Key + X and then click Device Manger.
b. Search for sound drive.
c. Right click the sound drive and click uninstall.
d. Follow the prompt and restart the computer.

Note: If the driver is not compatible with Windows 8 I would suggest you to install the driver in compatibility mode.

Refer the steps:
a. Download the Drive from the manufacture’s website, Right click on the setup file and select Properties.
b. Click the compatibility tab, tick the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode for and select Windows.

I use HP ProBook 4510s and after the sleep the sound didn't work. 

For me uninstalling and deleting the old Audio Drivers did the trick.

Now i'm only using High Definition Audio Drivers, the problem by me was the SoundMAX from Microsoft digitally signed drivers.

I'm facing the same issue and what I do to solve the problem is disabling and re-enabling the Realtek sound driver.
