listing of checksums for windows 7 downloads

I would like a listing of the checksums for windows 7 64 bit English downloads. I have purchased HP computers without the system disks and I would like to create my own DVD system disk. I have downloaded the Windows 7 home premium SP1 64bit iso file X17-58997.iso file but before I burn a disk I would like to make sure it is not corrupted. Why aren't the checksums posted alongside the download links so I don't have to ask these questions?

64 bit:

Hi Thanks, I think that's the correct key. I have a further questions, hope I am not imposing too much: I have an OEM HP pavilion 64bit win 7 system, after reading through some of the posts some people say that these files wont work with OEM systems. They say that you have to use the recovery partition or generate a recover disk from the win 7 on the computer, but this will amount to several DVD's with all the original bloatware. Can I use this file to create a clean win7 on my computer and have the OEM key from HP unlock it? Some people say it will work but the activation is not transparent[what does a transparent activation mean?] Other people say it won't work at all???

Yes, it should work. But after the install (do a keyless) you will need to install the device drivers.

====================== Keyless Install ================================

How to perform a 'Keyless Install' of Windows:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD disc you created and start the installation process.

After you enter user name and password you will be asked to: 'Type your Windows product key', do not enter a key.
Also located just below the box where you would enter the key is a box with a check mark to 'Automatically activate Windows when I am online', remove the check mark and click 'Next'.

You will now have a 30 day grace period in which to activate Windows.

During this 30 day grace period you can install and verify the device drivers, install Windows Updates, resolve any problems.

After you are satisfied all problems have been resovled then activate Windows.

====================== Device Drivers =================================

Go to your computer manufacture's support web site and check for Windows 7 drivers for your specific model number.

If there are Windows 7 drivers, then download to a folder on your hard drive and install all of them, starting with the Motherboard/chipset drivers, SATA, LAN, Audio, USB, Graphics, Webcam, Etc., and so on.

Your welcome an here is a complete updated list of the .ISO download files.

1) Download the appropriate Windows 7 .ISO file which includes Service Pack 1
(Note: must match what your product key version is for)

2) After downloading the correct .iso file, install HashCalc and validate the SHA1 hash value
is correct.
HashCalc: http://www.slavasoft.com/hashcalc/index.htm
(note: If the download is not corrupt, the value HashCalc returns will match the SHA1 value I posted)

a) Launch HashCalc and navigate to the location of the .iso file you downloaded.
(The default download location is: C:\Users\User account name\Downloads)
b) Remove all check marks from the list of HashCalc options except for SHA1.
c) Click the ‘Calculate’ button and wait for the SHA1 string of letters and number to be displayed.

3) Next use ImgBurn or Gear ISO to create a bootable DVD.
Choose the “Custom Installation (advanced)” option and remove the check mark(s)
to eliminate unwanted options.

(The steps are the same for Windows 7 or Windows 8), except you are not creating a Repair disc but a full installation DVD)

Note: Always use high quality DVD+R media and the slowest burn speed (4x or 6x) if offered a choice.

I agree - why aren't the checksums more easily available?????

I support the University where I work and they require them. It is making a lot of work for me to hunt them down. Not sure why we use MD5 and MS use SHA which also confusing. Thanks

MD5 is no longer secure and neither is SHA-1.  What should be used is SHA-256 or 512.

SHA-1 will at least tell you if the download is corrupt, but hackers have a means of changing the code and still maintain the same SHA-1 hash value. SHA-256 or 512 is by far more secure.
