error id # 7011 in windows 7- answer very confusing

i have the exact same problem __Error code messages seem to refer to versions other than Windows 7-- and found what is below in the answers threads. i fail to see what the answer is--event log online tech help tells you to go into the registry to fix which isn't what the proposed answer is below-- whats up? (besides the rent)   airboat233 Question by Liz G __Error code messages seem to refer to versions other than Windows 7 Applies To: Windows | Windows 7 | Performance and Maintenance When I click through to the online help from error messages in the event viewer logs, the pages that come up generally refer to either Windows Vista, or Windows Server.  For example, several error messages today say " a timeout was reached when waiting for a response from ...", and show event id 7011. When I clicked through to the help, I got a page referring to Windows Server 2008, and instructions on how to "edit the registry" to increase the timeout value. Do these error messages mean something is wrong in my computer? Is a timeout waiting for FdResPub service, or SSDPSRV service, or upnphost service important?  I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, upgraded from Vista on a Dell Studio1557.  4 People had this question Liz G. I would suggest you to boot the computer in clean boot that is disable non Microsoft services. The purpose of disabling non Microsoft services is to check if any of these services is causing the issue. Follow the steps below to boot the computer in clean boot: 1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.    If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue. 2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup. 3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box. 4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All. 5. Click OK. 6. When you are prompted, click Restart. 7. After the computer starts, check whether the problem is resolved. Reset the computer to start as usual After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual: 1.Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.    If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. 2.On the General tab, click the Normal Startup option, and then click OK. 3.When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Restart.   If the issue is resolved check which third party is causing the problem, referring the link given below: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Thanks and Regards: Shalini Surana - Microsoft Support.

I,ll consider this thread closed. After spending some time with the event viewer, i've concluded its nothing but a lame useless junk. I would think that Windows will one day take a hard look at it. How about an event log that gives one usefull information not mixed in with hundreds of do not need, useless b ____. A very scary view for lots of folks. airboat233

I believe this is a bug in SP1.  I see the 7011 "error" logged against different services, but it *always* is adjacent to a clock reset following resume, i.e., it appears the clock is changing, and the service control manager is deciding to time out any service that it started before the clock change, that had the misfortune of not responding in a couple of milliseconds.  Every one of these I've looked at says the service timed out after 30 seconds, and the system hasn't even been up for 30 seconds at that time, once you subtract out the clock reset time!  Windows bug, unless someone can prove otherwise.  (I also see Wlansvc and others, besides ShellHWDetection - all the same symptom, though.)

You basically make it sound like a time-stamp issue, I am having the same problems as well, and it is driving me nuts and breaking my normal routines and functions on my computer, limiting me from enjoying anything, thinking my Hardware is faulty or having a conflict or Virus.  It is making me paranoid as well... Seeing as I can not afford a new computer at the moment, and I feel this is damaging my computer over time, I want to switch to Linux.  But I dunno if that will make things worse or better.  But I am not seeing the errors you guys are seeing, I am seeing only one program with this error after fooling with system settings, registry, and fix it's.  The only thing doing it now is Service Control Manager.
