Windows Subsystem for Linux not available on build 14316

Hi,

I've updated my Windows installation to build 14316. I wanted to install Windows Subsystem for Linux but it is not available (visible) in “Turn Windows features on or off” dialog.

Do you have any ideas what might be the cause? I have developer mode enabled. I've also upgraded to EDU edition, I have had Home edition, but I upgraded it also today.

Regards,
Kacper

Run native Bash on Ubuntu on Windows: In this build, you can natively run Bash in Windows as announced last week at Build 2016. To do this, you first need to turn on Developer Mode via Settings > Update & security > For developers. Then search for “Windows Features” and choose “Turn Windows features on or off” and enable Windows Subsystem for Linux (Beta). To get Bash installed, open Command Prompt and type “bash”. For more details, see this blog post.

Ok. I did find the cause.

The fact that it only works on 64-bit builds is not well advertised. I found this page where it was https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/commandline/wsl/install_guide and now everything is clear. My tablet have 32-bit Windows installed. I don't have insider preview on my main PC.

Thanks for all replies and sorry for trouble I wish I have found this info sooner. :)

BR,

Kacper

Try activating using your Windows 7 or Windows 8 product key:

I am running activated Version 1511 64bit of Windows 10 Home. I have subscribed to Insider Preview Builds. Why it doesn't show Windows Subsystem for Linux in Features?
