KB4013418 brick my computer

I received the last batch of updates released on 15thMAR and  installed at normal steps(no error display during install or restart)

And since then my computer has a lost of issues and I believe KB4013418 is the one screw up the computer.

Problems observed:

-Broken permission on my user (Computer name/Users) with remark something "APPID..." error, forgot the term, not nearby by problem pc, suggested me to create a new profile

-High CPU usage from DCOM service host

-All .exe fail including explorer or office

-Slow/no response on Windows start button

-Fail on launching Windows Apps, including default ones(Setting), fine with Control panel

-Since Windows App fail, can not go into Windows updates section(which Windows decide to take it off from Control Panel and moved to Settings in the previous build!)

-Doing nothing will result in black screen with cursor working only

-Fail on roll back in safe mode with Antivirus turn off, been told failed because of WindowsApps

Fix attempted, all conducted in safe mode for a few time but failed:

-Restore point, and actually, I lost a few restore points in earlier time after few attempts...

-Uninstall update patches, but only KB4013418 not available to uninstall

-cmd "chkdsk C:" command

-cmd "sfc /scannow" command

-cmd "DISM" healthcheck/restore command

-cmd "wusa /uninstall /..." uninstall specific patch command

-Change owner and permissions on "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps"

Similar case for other users:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/5zlk1z/march_14th_updates_screwed_my_computer/

What it looks like is the update screw my main account(user) 's profile in Windows and even the default or native apps in the Windows can not be launch, on the other hand, the default DCOM services take huge CPU usage and as a result, all exe  can not start up as well

I am really pissed by the update which stops all my work because they were stored on the laptop and cause me a lot of time to look for backup files and recover methods.

Please provide an update patch or solution for it.

Hi I have no experience of any of your problems after patch Tuesday.(March 15) IMHO, it sounds like you need to think about a clean install. There won't be a patch for your problems.

You are not alone ... having this issue since w10 auto-updated yesterday.

There is a redit discussion about that priblem but nobody still manage to find a fix.

Some website are also reporting the problem about this kb4013418...

I already tried to create a new admin session, boot up in safe mode, repair wupdate in cmd line, restore the computer..... and lot of other thinvs with no effect...

The w10 community really need a w10 tech to answer about this !

I think this is common that patch hit some people and some did not especially Windows have many variables on conditions.

It is also noticeable that issue happened in the notebook more than desktop version(redict comment).

Anyway, my points are:

-the offical patch should never push with a chance to screw up user's computer. If the problem is not found in insider, beta or testing version, then it just means the UAT is not good enough

-if it did screw up, the problem is the official and user do not expect it is treated as the exceptional case with format PC as the solution, the official should provide the answer to something they "destoryed" in the first place

Agree! We are average windows user who already attempted for the fix but no solution is found. I think it is time for a staff to show up and work it out.

Please provide more information so that the cause of your problem may be diagnosed.

Please restart your computer and allow 20 minutes for the system to run before uploading information required to help me investigate your problem. When examining Event Viewer log files many, not all, problems show in the period immediately after the computer has been booted.

Please provide a copy of your System Information file. To access your System Information file select the keyboard shortcut Win+R, type msinfo32 and click OK . Place the cursor on System Summary. Select File, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Click Save. Files in the txt file format are preferred.Do not place the cursor within the body of the report before exporting the file. The system creates a new System Information file each time system information is accessed. You need to allow a minute or two for the file to be fully populated before exporting a copy. Please upload the file to your OneDrive, share with everyone and post a link here. If the report is in a language other than English, please state the language.

Please upload to your OneDrive and share with everyone a copy of your System log file from your Event Viewer and post a link here. Please remove any earlier copies of the logs from your OneDrive.

To access the System log select the keyboard shortcut Win+R, type eventvwr.msc and press the ENTER key. From the list in the left side of the window select Windows Logs and System. Place the cursor on System, select Action from the Menu and Save All Events as (the default evtx file type) and give the file a name. Do not provide filtered files. Do not place the cursor in the list of reports before selecting Action from the menu. Do not clear logs whilst you have a continuing problem.

After the last Windows update two days ago, my desktop connects to internet sporadically. Sometimes I have full connection, meaning I can open anything, however, most of the time it is no connection at all, or I can open some things partially. For example, if I open Google News, I can read the headlines, but when I try to open the article it won't do anything.

Until this morning I thought it was my network adapter, however, when my laptop also updated, it started doing the same thing.

I've had tried the link you provided earlier, but I'm still having the same issues.  It won't allow me to uninstall or rollback the last update, and I have even tried this in safe mode.

Desktop and laptop are both connected to the router/wired connection.

Thank you,

E
