Countdown to goodness

Countdown to goodness.  Another ridiculous "update" on a colleague's machine though I've disabled the Windows Update service.

It offered the options "Wait an hour, OK, or Restart Now".  Apparently "Wait an hour" and "OK" do the same thing as it rebooted itself an hour later.... shutting down everything she was working on.  Now, two hours later it's finally completed and rebooted to the log in screen.... and 10 minutes later it's still on the Welcome screen.  In this amount of time it could have downloaded and installed the entire operating system... twice.  Which I'm assuming is exactly what it's done.  And again my colleague has had no workstation.

Microsoft:  Why are you trolling your own loyal(?) customers... who've spent thousands and thousands of dollars on your products over the years?

UPDATE (the next day, 06/05/2018):  One of three machines that, yesterday, "updated" this malware that Microsoft calls an "operating system" is installing more updates as we speak.  It spent about 20-30 minutes "updating" and the last I checked it was back to "Working on updates - 0% - Do not turn off you computer.  This will take a while."  Again, yesterday after these "updates" completed I disabled the Windows Update Service... again.

Microsoft:  Why are you trolling your own loyal(?) customers... who've spent so many thousands and thousands of dollars on your products over the years?

It really is disturbing. It has been going on for well over, legitimately, a decade now since they started with these "tricks" to essentially force updates and Microsoft is getting more and more bold as time passes. They've already successfully been sued for this disgusting practice and they know full well how consumers feel. There's a video where the CTO admits on camera that they went too far with the forced updates regarding the Windows 10 "upgrade". Don't worry, with the FB scrutiny going on MS isn't far off from having to defend itself from thousands of lawsuits. This is probably a good thing as well since many people are moving over to Linux distros, and honestly the only reason we're still using Windows is because most consumers use it and so developers focus on Windows compatibility. It won't be long before Microsoft gets burnt hard. Every single aspect of their business is getting killed by better offerings from less scummy competitors.... just look at their stock in comparison.
