Windows Update- Some Settings are Managed by your Organization

Hi.  In my Windows Update screen, I get a red notification that, "Some Settings are Managed by my Organization" (see below).

I am not in an organization.  These are probably remnants of up upgrade from Win7.  Can anyone offer me advice on how to turn off these settings?

Hi Tony,

Other users received this error after turning off data collection service for diagnostic purposes. Review your settings. Go to Settings > Privacy > Feedback & diagnostics. Make sure it is set to Full, On, and Automatically recommended. Also, try tweaking your registry setting a little. Follow these steps:

  1. Press Windows key + R to launch Run.
  2. Type regeditand press Enter.
  3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DataCollection.
  4. Change or add dword AllowTelemetry value to 3.
  5. Restart your device and check if it made a difference.

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article.
