ERROR Error 997 while installing Microsoft visual c++ 2008 x86 (SOLVED !)

i'm getting Error 997. Overlapped I/O operation in progress , while installing the microsoft c++( redistributable ) 2008 x86 , my windows is 10 and 64bit .

also i dont have this update : KB2918614 since some websites said i should unistall it to fix it

i need this to play LA NOIRE 

UPDATE : ALSO this might help , lately when i'm trying to play a game in steam ( dota 2 ) everytime it tries to perform a visualc++ install which i don't understand why

Finally, this simple procedure worked for me:



In short: Rename the folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\S-1-5-18 to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\S-1-5-18_old

During successful installation of KB3045318 this folder is created again, automatically.

At the end, I copied the missing files from the original folder to the new folder.

solved , check my first post 

Renaming it work for me after you do this try installing the runtime again it should work after its done go back and delete the old one !!

In short: Rename the folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\S-1-5-18 to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\S-1-5-18_old
