Why is Windows 10 email so slow to sync?

You would think I'm trying to archive the Library of Congress.  Why does it take so long for Windows 10 Email to finish an Email sync.  Sometimes it take 2 minutes with the little balls moving across the screen. On an iPad its usually 5 seconds to get email.

I regret, this fix does nothing for me.

Had the time to read Tolstoy's War and Peace over the last few weeks waiting for the sync to happen. Maybe Microsoft is trying to improve the education level of its users ;-)

Dear all,

I might have found a solution to speed up the sync from the MS Email app with an gmail account.

It looks that Microsoft does not support the security standards of gmail.

If you go to the gmail account and you activate the option: "access for less secure apps"

under the following link: https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps

After this change, the Email App works fine for me.

Hope this helps for some of you.

Best regards

Thomas

I tried this but my settings were already set to "Less secure".  My MS Mail is still paralyzingly slow.  Another amazing MS product:).

I too tried all the suggested fixes, except the one from Microsoft support suggesting I contact Gmail! None of them work. I am running on Lenovo Win10 using Windows Mail.

Its high time Microsoft addressed the problem. I noticed that over 2500 people have contributed to these conversations saying they have the same problem, what does it take for MS to understand this is a design bug that needs fixing? I have never experienced slow sync for mail on any other system, Win7, Apple or Android. Something must have changed in Win10, and MS must know how to fix it.

It seems to be an interaction with the system security controls installed on the system.  I use McAfee and, like most good security systems, it is constantly looking for issues.  Win 10 and McAfee together seem to be causing a slow down of the system which includes mail and internet, which are just the most obvious applications to be affected.  There is no reason to have the fastest processor if the software cannot utilize the speed.  Microsoft would like you to use their security system and maybe this is how you convince everyone that yours is best.

I don't use McAfee.  It is still slow. The fact that it mostly happens on my gmail accounts may be of significance.  I guess I will just have to use Google Mail instead.  Another stellar MS product.

I use Security Essentials (sorry, now Windows Defender), so if that is causing the slowdown its still a Microsoft problem!

For me it is the same

I have account in outlook mail and yahoo mail.

The outlook.com  has the option to sync "as mail arrives" the yahoo.com account setting do not show this option.  It is very annoying. I much prefer the outlook 10 client on win7 that loaded everything in on opening the program and it was all on the local PC.  AND.... I can't install this outlook 10 client on win10, it is too old an app.(BAH!)

Clouds are for the birds.

Of course if I use the web access to email there is no issue, it is only when the Win 10 (reduced functionality) mail app has to access the other vendor mail server it is an issue.
