Touchpad's buttons not working

As of a Windows 10 update (I don't know which one), my touchpad's buttons have completely stopped working. I suspect it to be a software problem, but I don't know how to fix it.

I have all the correct drivers installed according to Windows 10.

All the settings I could find are limited and only seem to refer to the touchpad part of it, not the buttons used to left and right click.

I am using a Lenovo Flex 2-14, which was intended for use with Windows 8, but it has worked properly in Windows 10 before.

According to the animation in Synaptics, it doesn't register the buttons being pressed.

Please help my fix this problem, thanks.

Try reinstalling the driver by going to the Control Panel, Device Manager, MIce & other pointing devices. Right click on the Touchpad entry, uninstall, reboot. After reboot it will install the driver.
Hope this helps!

Hi Tom,

When a device suddenly stops from working, it could be a driver incompatibility with the new Windows updates. For us to assist you better, we'd like to as the following:

  • What is the name and version of your touchpad and driver?
  • Is the update you're referring to is a cumulative update or an upgrade from Windows 10 Creators Update to Fall Creators Update?
  • Aside from reinstalling the driver, can you provide us with all the troubleshooting steps that you've done so far?
  • What version of Windows 10 was it running before?

  • Synaptics ClickPad V9.1 on PS/2 Port
  • Sorry, I have no idea what update it worked on...
  • I have re-installed the driver, deleted it and installed it again, and reverted to an old driver version.
  • Sorry, I don't know... It was probably a few months ago

Thanks

Thank you for the information. Basing on the information that you've provided, we highly recommend contacting your laptop manufacturer's website to get the latest version of drivers that are fully compatible with Windows 10. There are two touchpad versions for your laptop's model and getting in touch with your laptop manufacturer will be a great assistance getting the correct one.

I have installed the driver on Synaptics website, for windows 10. There were two drivers, one said PS/2 so I assumed it was that one as it said on my computer "Synaptics ClickPad V9.1 on PS/2 Port". I can use the left click somewhat, but it is very inconsistent and 99 times out of 100 it doesn't work. Also, right click still doesn't work.

We appreciate you updating us. In line with the driver, it should be from Lenovo to ensure that it's fully compatible with the whole laptop and Windows 10. Please visit this link regarding the driver provided by Lenovo or contact them for assistance.

We'll keep an eye out for your response, keep us updated. Thank you.
