Changing the Excel default workbook and spreadsheet zoom to 125%

I have Office 2011 for Mac. How do you change the default characteristics of the Excel workbook (and spreadsheet when I add more sheets) so that it opens with a zoom set to 125% (not the usual 100%)? Thank you for your help. David

By default, XL uses an internally generated default workbook, but you can substitute your own.

In your Startup folder (by default:

    HD:Applications:Microsoft Office 2011:Office:Startup:Excel:

but you can change it in Preferences) create a new workbook with all your default specifications (e.g., zoom, # of sheets, fonts/styles, etc). Save the workbook AS A TEMPLATE (.xltm) with the name "Workbook" (no quotes). In the Finder, navigate to that folder, select the file and choose Get Info from the right-/Ctrl-click popup menu, and delete the extension (.xltm) on the file. XL will now use that workbook as a default.

Create a one-worksheet workbook template in the same way and save it with the name "Sheet". Delete the extension in FInder, and that workbook's worksheet will be used for inserted worksheets.

Yes, what j.e. explained does work exactly as described.

If you're having difficulty & would like some help please submit a New Question rather than jumping in on an old thread that was posted more 18 months ago, was hijacked by another poster a year later & has been inactive for more than 6 months.

Please specify your present update level of Office 2011, your version of OS X, as well as a complete & accurate description of the circumstances... Exactly what you're attempting to do, what specific steps you're taking, along with an explanation of what "DOES NOT WORK" means to you. Someone will be more than happy to assist but we need a reasonable amount of objective info to work with.

And a request:

Please refrain from using ALL CAPS. In addition to being tough on the eyes it's the equivalent of shouting at the reader & is considered rude in electronic communications. The use of normal sentence case would be appreciated greatly. if there is need for emphasis on specific words/phrases don't hesitate to use the formatting features provided by the Toolbar at the top of the message window. Thanks :-)
