Start menu doesn't open in Windows 10 tech preview.

<"Original title: Nothing works!>"

I updated windows 8.1 to windows 10 technical preview build 9926 to check the new additions made just today and when I booted windows 10 for the first time.. Start menu doesn't open, the search box doesn't work, no modern app works.. but was able to open settings through opening update.microsoft.com

This fixed the issue for me:

I had the same problem and fixed it with the script below.

  1. Right click on the Start Menu button -> Search -> Windows PowerShell -> Run As administrator
  2. Paste the following command into PowerShell and execute it:

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
