OneNote won't sync, error E0000024

Hello, 

I've been having an issue with my OneNote for a few weeks now. My notebooks won't sync. I sign out and back in, and the error warning appears on all notebooks as soon as I open them again after logging back in. I can't open my notebooks by copying the link into my browser but I can see the notebooks if I log into my OneNote account online. I've updated everything (iOS, Microsoft Apps) and it still doesn't work. What can I do?

Thanks for posting in the community.

According to your description, you have two issues. One is cannot access notebook by copy/paste the link in browser. The other is the sync error in OneNote client.

For the first one, we would like to explain to you, when you click Copy link to Notebook, the link has two parts actually. In Mac, you cannot access the link directly unless you delete “onenote:https....”(from onenote to the end part). Or you could copy the link, paste it in Word and click Web view. You will see two parts, for the first part, it is the link to open the notebook in your client; for the second part, it’s the link to open the notebook online.

For your second issue, normally, it will sync well after you click Sign in in the screenshot. If not, you could try to re-sync the notebooks:

1. Please first backup the notes that have not been synced up to OneNote Online

2. Close all the notebooks in OneNote client.

3. Open the notebooks online

4.Open the online notebooks and click Open in OneNote.

Also, since the issue exists in all notebooks in your client, you could try to change the Internet environment, such as mobile hotspot.

Hi George, thank you for your answer. I was able to open the notebook online. However, the error in the OneNote App persists. I changed networks, tried with a hotspot as well but the error won't go away. It still won't recognise that I'm signed in and won't sync because it says I'm working offline even though there is no problem with my internet connection.. do you have any other suggestions?

Thank for posting back and sorry for my late reply.

According to your description, this sync issue only exists in client. We would like to know whether you have tried the steps about resyncing notebooks in my first reply.

If so, here is the suggestion:

Remove the cache folder to reset OneNote(make sure you have backed up the notebooks)

Go to your user library, open Container, remove the folder com.microsoft.onenote
