my copy of Fable 2 is unplayable, despite the disc being in spottless condition.

ok, so back when fable 2 first came out, I shelled out the extra cash for the collectors edition. it played great, I beat it and I never had any problems with it. that is until fable 3 came out. then suddenly all my saves for fable 2 were "corrupt" so I had to delete them. but, I didnt care that much. it's just a game, I can replay it, and I had just gotten fable 3 to keep me busy. well today I figured it was time I went back and beat fable 2 again.  I tried starting a new character (offline) but I couldnt get out of the childhood stage before it froze entirely. however, the 360 dashboard still functioned. I restarted my console and connected to live to see if there were any new patches available. there were not. I tried again and it froze again before I could finish childhood.  so I restarted my console again. I thought that maybe the add-ons were possibly the culprit. it was a stretch, but I deleted those and re-downloaded them. once again, the game froze before I could even get to meet lucien. so, after much frustration, confusion and reading outdated articles (from 2008-2009) about the exact same issues that I'm experiencing here in 2011, I cleared my system cache on my 360 hard drive and once again, started up the game. and true to trend, the game froze with me still not even out of childhood.

this is the only game I have ever played on any system or console that I have had this much trouble with. and I've tried making Half-Life 2 run on a pc that didnt have the GPU power of even an Nvidia GeForce 6200.

yesterday I played black ops with nary a hitch. and now I've run fallout 3 and turok without any issues whatsoever.

I've read that the issues could be fixed by installing fable 2 to my 360 hard drive, but I dont have enough space on my stock 14 Gb HD to do so, so that's not an option. (3.9 free)

Yeah, My friend bought Fable 2 and it broke, I thought he just had a faulty disk so he went to get another that one also broke. Then a couple of months later I went and bought one which broke and traded it in for Cod WaW.. So I suspect your disk is faulty just like many others.

Hey mate, have you tried the other steps listed in this guide? If that doesn't do the trick, you may very well want to back up some of your saved data onto a USB drive, so you can install the game to your HDD.

well the guide came to: "Contact the disc manufacturer for a replacement disc or troubleshooting help." and Lionhead defers its technical support to Xbox Support. see "support" tab: lionhead.com/ContactUs.aspx . so, who do I have to wake up to get a replacement disc? as far as I'm concerned, if none of this is helping it run correctly, I have doubts it would even install correctly.

are you referring to a second copy of Fable 2 or a different game? if the former, no, I have not had the opportunity to. if the latter, please read my original post.

ok, well, I just had my first opportunity to try a second Fable 2 disc on my 360 today, and not only have I finally gone through the childhood stage successfully without any hiccups whatsoever, but I've also gone through the chamber of fate and am currently running around Bower Lake.  to top it all off, there is quite a notable performance improvement with this borrowed copy as opposed to my copy.

so, once again, who do I have to wake up to get my faulty copy replaced?

You could try getting it resurfaced. I know a lot of independent game stores and some music stores offer this service for relatively little cost (I've heard around $5 per disc). As for being replaced, I'd recommend taking it back to where it was purchased, but that seems out of the question given how long ago it was bought.

well there's nothing but chains in my area and yes, it has been way too long since I bought it for them to even care anymore. and the guide given to me by your fellow support associate Fitzer stated to contact the manufacturer for the replacement, i.e. this forum. besides, like the title of my original post says, the surface of my disc is fine. I actually try to take care of my games. which is also why this whole experience has been incredibly frustrating.

well it's been over a week since I last posted here and obviously no information has been provided on how I can obtain a replacement for my faulty game disc. so please, could any forum members, or xbox support staff provide me with information about how to get this over with and done. it's been almost a month since I started this thread, and I think that this ordeal has gone on long enough.  I just want to be able to play the game that I have already purchased.
