managing harddrive space?

So i got the pro system back when it was 500$. i think my hardrive is 60gigs. Either way, it's filled to the rim, any dlc i get, i have to sacrafice save games for. N they barely make a dent, the real fat files are the dlcs themselves. While some i barely or never play anymore, i don't want to delete, then want to play, and spend another 5, 10, or hundreds of dollars on. so my question is this.

I found http://support.microsoft.com/kb/962228 To "redownload" stuff i've paid for. how long will stuff stay on that list tho? say i delete a dlc now, will it be there in several months? even a couple of years? My Fallout 3 has almost 4 gigs in dlcs alone, i love that game but overplayed it, so i wouldn't mind being able to temporarily free up that space. same goes with fable 2, crackdown 2, crackdown 1, etc.

Bottom line... if i delete something i paid for, will it still be there in however long for me to redownload without having to pay AGAIN?

As far as I know, yes, you can redownload items you have already purchased without having to pay for them again.

All purchases are linked to your gamertag. You can re-download anything you have payed for regardless of how long it has been. However, the better option would be to buy a new slim with the 250gb HDD and transfer over all your content.

Yes, you can download anything that you've previously downloaded, including DLCs for free.

Just go to your download history and download them again for free.

Agreed. Just delete all the dlc you are not playing at the mo. Then when you do want to play, go to download history, or just go to the marketplace, and when you select that dlc, it will say you have already paid for it, would you like to download it again.

You could also buy a external hard drive. Only thing is alot of people say they dont work. With is partly true because they are set to NTFS. all you need to do is connect it to your PC, go to My Computer, right click on the external HDD and re-format it to FAT32. Only thing is that it wont be complatable with your PC afterwards.

Not true. If it's on your download history, you can download it.

But if someone has never downloaded something and it's been taken of the marketplace, only in that case he won't be able to download it.

Do not do this, performance will be terrible.

You can buy 16GB USB sticks for ~$25 that provide better performance. Solid state > physical especially considering any external drives would be using the USB interface.
