Games Tester

well its a offical job so keep your eye on the game developer sites its acturlly most known as

QA tester

QAULITY ansurence (might be spelt right or wrong)

as its a real job look into it first you may need some GCSEs

I'd recommend sending out speculative letters with your CV to various games companies on a regular basis. Even if they're not recruiting people at the time if you keep badgering them they'll remember you and you're increasing your chances of getting a call when they are recruiting.

Be aware though that while the main part of the job is sitting on your backside playing games for most of the day there's a lot more to it than that. You're primarily there to go bug hunting and will be required to try just about everything to break the game to make sure said game doesn't grind to a halt because you did something the game didn't anticipate. This also means you'll be playing the same section of games over and over again, The Silent Cartographer is a great level but I doubt you'll find too many people willing to play it 100 times without seeing the rest of the game first which a QA will be doing right now.

If you're just trying to get a sneaky go of Halo 4 before release you're not going to get taken on and even if you did bluff your way past the interview you'll be quickly shown the door when it's found you're not doing your job properly. If you do a good job then you're more likely to be kept on and it can lead on to other things within the company, it's a foot in the door for an industry that's notoriously hard to get employment in.

Technically if you sign up for an alpha or beta then you are a games tester just on a voluntary basis.

If you want to make a career out of it then its pretty much just like any other job, You need to check around for job openings and most games testers are required to have certain qualifications above GCSE/School level.

You could also contact the various developer studios you are interested in and seeing if they have any positions available.
