Secret Achievements Are Annoying

I think that secret achievements are great when it's something that you unlock just by playing through the campaign so that you don't get any spoilers, but I agree that it's really annoying when a secret achievement is something that you'd never even think of doing without knowing about it in advance.

Yep, they are aggravating.  I have one that is still locked even though I have 50 of the 54 total achievements.  At this point, it should be unlocked.  Aggravating to say the least.

Just google it on true achievements,they list all secret achievements.

I understand that, but we shouldnt have to go through all that trouble for something that should just be there for us to know from the start.

I've mentioned it in another thread, but it would be nice if all achievements were labeled as such :Single player, Online, DLC. Then you wouldn't have to second guess or look online if you can acquire a specific achievement.

Secret achievements really are a double edged sword.

It is great that the achievements are hidden when it is for finishing of a level or a boss or something but they really are a pain in the neck when it is for doing a certain move or action in the game that you wouldn't do in a million years normally.

Well, what I dont understand about the whole "spoiler alert" aspect of it if the achievements were to give away part of the story is, who honestly gets a game and automatically goes right to the achievements page of the home menu to look at all the achievements? As far as I am aware, people just put the game in, play the main story, get all the achievements associated with the story and after the story is done, THEN they look at the achievements to see what more they need. I get irritated mainly at the secret ones in games like Saints Row (which is why I started this thread) and Assassins Creed and maybe even GTA (I dont play GTA, so that is why I said maybe). Secret Achievements in those kind of games are the WORST pain in the *** to get since you have a huge map with a bunch of activities scattered everywhere, along with the main story and challenges.

I do.

I always look at achievements when i get a game just to see if there any easy ones i am likely to miss, that may require a lot of work later on.

[/quote]It probably took you more keystrokes to type up this thread and respond to it 3-4 times than it would be to google the achievements of the game in question.

I kind of see your point, but I feel they are somewhat necessary when it comes to avoiding story spoilers.  For instance, I'm REALLY glad they were listed as "secret" for a game like Bioshock.  That game needed those achievements to be listed as "secret" considering the huge twist in the storyline.
