Is leaving your Xbox one on while watching TV bad for the console?

I'm hoping that's why its design is so big, huge fan to keep constant use from causing meltdowns.

I think it was designed with aspirations of being on for hours daily.  

That's what they say: That it's designed to be on everyday for 10 years. Mine is on constantly, I hope it's ok.

I've run mine all day since launch other than sleep times it is designed to run constantly it's definitely why it was designed this way to not overheat.

It will be fine. You may have issues using the TV app right now anyway. Mine doesn't want to play at all most of the time. Software needs some tweaking I think.

Really the xbox one runs super cool compared to the 360 and PS3. I measured threw the fan to find the hottest spot with my minitemp gun, hottest spot I could find was 102 degrees. The power supply was 92 degrees and Kinect was 95 degrees.

Exactly what others have said. Microsoft designed the Xbox one to be used excessively as an all in one multimedia device. Yet Microsoft won't stand by the "it'll run everyday for ten years" comment. The Xbox only comes with the 1 year warranty. So in my opinion just for safe measure. I'd opt out for the additional $70 to add 2 more years to your existing warranty.

The way I look at it is you don't sit their constantly worrying about your tv being on or in standby mode because that's how its designed to work same goes for xbox one.

Ive have my X1 on for 24 hours and it barley feels warm...the kinect feels a little warm but not compared to what my 360 felt after a few hours of being on lol you could cook an egg on that thing....The box might be huge but it sure is well ventilated honestly.
