E74 Error Due to New System Update

Did this happen to anyone else?

I've seen other people say they have called and that they just end up being told they either modded their xbox and/or they have to pay for a repair which I don't believe is right if it's not my/their fault. It'd be nice if Microsoft just addressed this instead of having a bunch of people have to call to find out anything. This is clearly a fairly major problem.

I just called to Finnish support and they said its not proven that the patch made E 74 to happen. So no compensation or nothing. Still my Box died directly after the new patch.

E74: I/O Hardware Error - HSIO related, could be crc error, or many things: There is high chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check that first. Microsoft covers this error under their 3-year warranty, this is availble to anyone who hasn't modified their console. contact MS to get a free replacement console before attempting to fix this yourself. Failing that this error In some cases it is a problem with the GPU

Iv tried to unplung everything and re connect them again, but E 74 stands firm! I mailed and told them my problem and I were very polite and friendly. My console is _not_ modified. Only modification is couple of dirty fingerprints made by my kids.

same here i just got my xbl back and my xbox updated, reset and then wouldnt turn on. eventualy it did but the startup screen is on for about 10 mins. also i tried to update it with the usb stick and it didnt work. the disk tray wont open either. thanks a lot microsoft, ill probibly go buy a ps3.
