can't connect to xbox live

I've tried everything it's told me on the computer and online. It's saying i'm connected to internet and network but fails on live. i've opened all ports that need to be opened.it's wired directly to modem and ther's nothing wrong with the line.My isp is vodafone.ie.i must be doing something wrong.those ports i opened i had to add manually in firewall. please help!thanks
