New Windows 7 Pro PC - Application Event 1508 User Profile Service

Intermittently (once in every 10 - 20 or so) i turn on my PC and get the temporary profile.

The event is 1508, User Profile Service

Windows was unable to load the registry. This problem is often caused by insufficient memory or insufficient security rights.

DETAIL - The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

for C:\Users\USERID\ntuser.dat

It appears that hundreds of thousands (according to a Google search)of other Win 7 users are getting the same error, is this a generic Win 7 error that they have not yet perfected and got a fix for?

Other events in logs are 1502, 1511, 1512.

Most Win 7 users i talk to say they have had the same experience once or twice but just put it down to the "usual" Microsoft bugs and just ignore it.

Any help and permanent fix for this problem would be most appreciated.

I have had the same issue on my Windows 7 pc's in the past with no luck on a solution.  When I would get the temp profile, I would log back off and the second time logging in I would have my correct profile.

When looking through the Application log, I found the same ID's you have, 1502, 1511, 1512.  I also had ID 1530, which indicates the DkService.exe (Diskeeper 2010) has the Registry\Users keys open.  I have Diskeeper 2010 on a Windows 7 laptop and desktop that both experience this issue.  Do you happen to have Diskeeper installed?  It also seems to happen when I try logging in as soon as I am prompted for the credentials, I'm impatient.

I originally suspected that the User Profile Service was not completely started or one of the dependent services didn't start.  I never seem to have the problem if I let the system sit for a minute after it boots.  This seemed to explain why I was able to log in correctly the second time, service had a chance to fully start.  If that is the case and it's as easy as letting the system sit for a minute to fully start, why would the logon screen even show up unless the system was completely ready to login?

If I come across a definite answer, I will post it.

A week ago it was suggested i delete the temporary profile and the registry entry for it, i did this as the procedure suggested.

But this problem ignored the missing profile and registry entry and just recreates the temporary profile.
