Is it possible to fix a corrupt default profile

After fixing a corrupted profile, I noticed that most of my programs from "all programs" were missing, but they all still exist within program files/program files(x86).  I decided to backup my information, and delete the profile altogether.  I let the system create a temporary profile, but it still had the same issue.  I created a new profile still had the same issue.  I have come to the conclusion that the default profile on the system is corrupt, and I'm at a loss of what to do.  As a last ditch effort I copied the last known copy of my registry files from regback with no such luck.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  Any ideas at all on how to fix the issue at hand would be much appreciated.

Hi,

If you used the methods in that last link and they do not work there is not much else
you can do since your registry has changed. Recreating those changes would be
a nightmare. Easier to re-install all the programs.

Not sure I would try this in your case however it might work if the backups
are viable - use Start - Computer or Windows Explorer to check their dates
before proceeding. Also have good backups of your data just in case.

There are backups in the C:\Windows\System32\Config\Regback folder.

Use these methods to replace the registry with a backup.

Boot with a Windows 7 disk. Both of the below accomplish restoring
a registry backup.

How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP
from starting ( Vista and Windows 7 also using the manual instructions)

Check this thread - you can use the Command Prompt of a boot disk or Recovery.
(This is Vista and Windows 7 is the same)

Hope this helps.
