How To - Disable Double Click to Rename a File

I would like to know if it is possible to disable the feature that opens the rename a file text box when clicking on the name of a file.

I know I can avoid this problem just by clicking on the icon rather than the name of the file, but sometimes I miss.

Pressing F2 or Right Clicking on the file and selecting "Rename" is convenient enough for me, I don’t need to be able to double click on the name to rename something.

I regret to inform you that this is not possible, as the rename option is hard-coded into Windows Explorer.  To avoid it, simply click the file once.  The rename will only happen if you click a second time on an already-highlighted icon.

If you would rather have your double-clicks (even if on the words instead of the icon) be used to open the file rather than rename, simply turn down your double-click speed settings within your Mouse Control Panel.
