Mystery "Local Disk (E:) appears after Features Update 1803

Hi,

I just installed the last Windows 10 Features Update, version 1803 (the one with Task View) and suddenly a Local Disk (E:) that was not there before has appeared in my computer.

Normally there would only be two drives listed in This PC: Windows (C:), which is a Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1TB, and a DVD/CD drive. That's all. But now after this update there is this E drive which is listed as nearly full: "39.9MB free of 508MB". In Disk Management it appears listed as a OEM Partition (in addition to another OEM Partition, a 500MB "Recovery Disk")

If I run the Samsung Magician app, which I use to mantain my drive, this E drive is also listed there as a separate drive (whereas the other OEM partition, "Recovery", has never been listed there or in This PC)

Annoyingly, now a notification keeps popping up warning: "Low Disk Space. You are running out of disk space on Local Disk (E:). Click here to see if you can free space on this drive" But clicking there doesn't free anything.

I have tried running the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter, which innitially found a Restart pending. I restarted but drive E is still there. Running the Hardware or Updates troubleshooter again finds no issues.

How can I get rid of this drive E so that things are back to normal and I don't keep getting that notification?

Hi IgFe, this is a known issue in the 1803 Update,

It is the recovery drive, you are not meant to see it, it is not meant to have a drive letter, remove the drive letter and everything will return to normal:

Click your Start Button, type cmd, then right click Command Prompt and choose 'Run as Administrator'

Run this command and hit Enter

diskpart

Run this command and hit Enter

list volume

Note down the letter associated with that new drive

Run these commands one at a time and hit Enter (replace X with the correct drive letter)

select volume X

remove letter=X

Close Command Prompt and restart your PC

It has been happening with new update that new drive is getting uncovered. You can do following to hide it and there will no harm anywhere.

Type cmd in Windows Start Search box (Cortana) > Right click and run as Administrator
Give following command and Enter: diskpart
Now another window will be opened having diskpart.exe
Give following command and Enter: list volume
Give following command and Enter: select volume e
(here n is volume number which you want to remove)
Give following command and Enter: remove letter=e
