Windows 10 Pro -- CD AutoPlay Not Working

Hello,

Since I started using Windows 10, autoplay has stopped working. I have played with all of the autoplay settings. No matter what type of disc I insert, it will not autoplay.

Is this an issue with Windows 10?

This issue probably might have been caused due to corrupted system files or settings.

Let’s try simple steps and check if this helps. Follow the below method.

Method 1:

As an initial recommendation, I suggest you to check the Auto play settings and check if the option for Auto play can be enabled for all Medias.

  • Open the Control panel, and click on the Auto play icon.

  • Check the “Use AutoPlay for all media and devices” box to turn AutoPlay to on.

If the issue still persist try the below method.

Method 2:

Try the following steps and check if you performed it correctly.

 

1.    Press Windows key + X and select Control panel.

2.    Click on Auto play and change the CD player to different video player.

3.    And restart the computer and try setting Auto play to Windows media player again.

We are sorry for the delay in response.

As the issue is still persists, I suggest you to try the below steps and check if this helps.

Method 1: Run Hardware and device troubleshooter.

Follow the below steps.

a. Type troubleshooting in the Search area on the taskbar.

b. Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes in the Search box and hit enter.
c. Select “Hardware and Sound” from the Troubleshooter Window.
d. Select “Hardware and Devices” under Devices option.
e. Follow the On Screen instructions.

Method 2: Uninstall the driver from Device Manager and scan for new hardware to install the driver again.

1) Press Windows key + X key when you are at desktop.

             2) Select Device Manager.

             3) Expand CD/DVD ROM.

             4) Right on the CD/DVD ROM and click on Uninstall.

            5) In the Action menu of Device manager, select “Scan for Hardware changes” option. This will cause the device driver to be reinstalled. Once the driver is installed, close all windows and restart the computer.

I suggest you to install the latest Windows updates and check if this helps.

Windows Update helps keep your computer up to date with the latest system updates and drivers. You can check Windows Update manually to help ensure you have the latest updates.

1.      Hit Windows Key and type

2.      Type Windows Updates

3.      Click on Windows Updates

4.      Click on Check for updates and install the latest windows updates.

Hi Jeff,

I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs here as well.

1.   Go to Settings.

2.   Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.

3.   Select add someone else on this PC.

4.   Enter a user name and hit next.

5.   Click on Finish.

6.   Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.
