On screen keyboard won't show up?

I have a surface, and I would like to continue using my computer in tablet mode, but starting last night, my on screen keyboard stopped popping up. I tried clicking on several different fields, then I tried clicking the keyboard button, but it wouldn't work. I tried it in both tablet and laptop mode. How do I fix this?

I have a Surface Pro. I haven't tried anything yet besides switching to tablet mode/ pressing the keyboard button.

To resolve your concern, you can press Windows key + U button; then, click on Start On-Screen Keyboard.
