Hi Harsh,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I can imagine the inconvenience you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to fix the issue. However, I would appreciate if you could answer a few questions to narrow down the issue in order to provide you with better assistance.

a) Did you make any significant hardware or software changes to the computer prior to this issue?

b) Are you currently able to boot to the system?

c) Do you have any Windows 8/8.1 media?

The issue might arise if you there is an issue with the RAM or if some device driver has become unstable or corrupted. In order to diagnose and troubleshoot the issue, I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if the issue persists.

Method 1:

Disconnect all the external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) drives, etc...) Except mouse and the keyboard and then boot up.

If this corrects the issue then add the devices back one at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue. Then get any updated drivers\software for the device.

Method 2:

Try to boot the system in safe mode and check if the issue is reproduced. If not, then clean boot the computer and check if it helps.

Step 1:

Safe mode is a diagnostic mode in which you are logged in with only necessary minimal services and drivers enabled. Check if the issue is reproduced.

Refer to the following steps:

  1. Click on the Power button on the login screen.

  2. Press and hold the SHIFT key on keyboard and simultaneously click on Restart option.

  3. Once your PC restarts, on the Choose an option screen, tap or click Troubleshoot.
If you don't see the Startup Settings option, tap or click Advanced options.

  4. Tap or click Startup Settings.

  5. Tap or click Restart.

  6. On the Startup Settings screen, choose the startup setting for Safe Mode with Networking (Generally F5 key is pressed to select this setting).

  7. Sign in to your PC with a user account that has administrator rights.

Check if the issue persists in Safe Mode.

If the issue does not reproduce in Safe Mode, then try to clean boot the system and check if the issue persists.

Step 2:

Putting your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot.
How to perform a clean boot in Windows

If the issue does not occur in clean boot, then you may determine which application/service on the computer is causing this issue. This can be done by following the instructions for “Windows 8.1 and Windows 8” given in the section “How to determine what is causing the problem by performing a clean boot” from the same given link.

Note: Refer "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as normal after troubleshooting.

If the issue still exists, try the next method.

Method 3:

Run Memory diagnostics. The Memory diagnostic tool will check and fix any issues with the computer’s memory. You can refer these steps to run this tool.
a. Press Windows logo key + X.
b. Click on "Control Panel".
c. Select the Option "Administrative Tools" from "System and Security".
d. Select the option "Windows Memory Diagnostic".

Check if the issue is reproduced after running the diagnostic.

As of now, I would suggest you to try these steps and keep us updated with the results for further assistance. We'll be glad to assist you.

We do need the actual log files (called a DMP files) as they contain the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

Please follow our instructions for finding and uploading the files we need to help you fix your computer. They can be found here

I am seeing a very similar problem as describer here. I saw it on Win8 and now on Win10.

I get an error "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NOT_PAGED_AREA(wdfilter.sys)" and system reboots. this happens every 10-15 minutes. I did some research online and found info that hinted towards the antivirus software, so I uninstalled McAfee but issue still remained. Then I stopped MalwareBytes, but issue remained. So i stopped Windows Defender and Windows Firewall and now the issue was gone. System runs absolutely fine.

So it seems to me that Windows Defender is the culprit for this specific issue. When i upgraded to Win10 both Windows Defender and Windows Firewall was restarted and within 20 min I got the first Blue Screen again, I rebooted and then turned of Windows Defender and now system runs fine again.

Additional info (not sure if its relevant or not) my PC has a ASUS motherboard, Bios has never been update (why would I it works :-))

I had a issue over weeks with "malware" where adverts was popping up at all times but seemed to me that MalwareBytes got rid of those (Platinum version).

So if you see Blue Screen or regular reboots you might want to try turning On/Off a few of your anti-virus programs as the clues seems to be pointing in that direction.

Same issues with an ASUS motherboard, updated bios, turned off all accelerators (non-turbo mode) and have been fighting this for days now... will try Symantec's AV let you know (Windows 10 Enterprise 1511 build)
