compile error in hidden module: GlobalsEtc

Each time I open a blank word document I get this message: "compile error in hidden module: GlobalsEtc".  I have looked everywhere to find a way to get rid of this, but I have been unable to locate any instructions to do so.  Can yoou help, please?

The message indicates that there is a macro in an add-in that Word is trying to load, and the macro contains an error -- probably because the add-in was written for an earlier version of Word, or maybe just because its author made a mistake. To remove the message, you have to locate and remove the add-in.

The first step is to click the Office button, click Word Options at the bottom right, and choose the Add-Ins tab of the options dialog. Look at the list under the heading "Active Application Add-ins" and note any that have "Template" in the Type column. These are the suspects.

At the bottom of the dialog, set the Manage dropdown to Templates and click the Go button. Uncheck one of the listed templates, and then shut down and restart Word. If the message occurs again, check that template's box and uncheck a different one, then shut down and restart. Repeat until you find the one that, when unchecked, makes the message stop appearing. Make a note of the path to that template. (You can't usually see the full path in the Templates dialog, but you can see it in the Options > Add-ins dialog; when you select the template in the list, the full path appears near the bottom of the dialog.)

Armed with the path and file name, you may recognize what product put the template there, and you can uninstall that product. If you don't recognize it, use Windows Explorer to go to the folder and delete the file. If part of the path includes AppData\Roaming, the folder will be hidden, but you can type the full path into the Windows Explorer address bar to get there anyway.

Note that unchecking a template in the Templates and Add-ins dialog just unloads it for the current Word session. If it is located in Word's (or the Office) Startup folder, it will be loaded again when Word is restarted. So it will probably be necessary to note the path(s) to the active templates and move them out of that folder one at a time in order to troubleshoot.
