Unable to add Office 365 email account to Outlook of Office 365

Hi,

I've recently been assigned an office 365 account by my company in Germany.

Being the only rep in Singapore, I have to do all the office 365 installation myself.

I have installed the Office 365 BizPro (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc) on my laptop.

The problem is that I am unable to add my office 365 email account to Outlook.

Please advise. Thank you!

You start MS Outlook, are prompted to add the mail account, you add your mail address & password only, then what exactly happens?

Is it an exchange maill account or is it an IMAP mail account, and if IMAP is two factor authentication set?

Meanwhile, if the issue still persist, I’d like to collect below information from you.

1.       Could you please provide us outlook client version? For knowing outlook client version https://support.office.com/en-us/article/what-version-of-outlook-do-i-have-b3a9568c-edb5-42b9-9825-d48d82b2257c

2.       Please provide us if you have got any error message at the time of adding office 365 email account in outlook.

I added the account by clicking on the "add acount" tab in Files > Info.

This is the error message that I get.

Thanks for your reply. For adding office 365 email account in outlook you can try to perform following steps.

 

1. Go to Control Panel.

2. In search field type Mail and click on it.

3. In Mail Setup -Outlook > Click on Show Profiles.

4. Click on Add.

5. Click on E-mail Account.

6. Type your Name, email address and Password.

7. Click on Next.

I tried out creating a new profile as you suggested but the same problem remains.

See pic below...

This is quite frustrating... I have no problems accessing my emails via webmail or even Mail app. But not possible on Outlook. Hope someone here can help...

For issue regarding unable to add office 365 email account to outlook, I'd like to suggest that please try to use Support and Recovery Assistant tool for creating or re-creating outlook profile. Thanks for following up.

My IT Admin managed to figure out the issue.

Turns out that the Outlook client is unable to support two factor authentication.

After we switched off two factor authentication for my account, everything works.
