Embedding sway into wordpress

I like to write stories using sway.  Have many sways I would now like to embed in a wordpress post, but not in an iframe. I've tried so many things:

  • get sway embed code - paste in post - this creates an iframe
  • paste url in post - does nothing but show the text of the link
  • Export sway to word, publish using word - I lose most of the images, tweets, videos etc... Then try using mammoth docx converter plugin - this is better but still lose ability to embed tweets, and maybe other.
  • Try to add code (php wp_oembed_add_provider...) so can use oembed as documented on their website - code breaks website. Decide somewhere Sway is not supported/defined, but don't know if this is a wordpress, oembed or microsoft problem.
  • Try embedly plugin and just paste url. This just embeds as an iframe.

Please advise.  How can I get all my sways into wordpress and make it look like it belongs there (i.e. without an iframe).

Hi Amy,

With Sway, you can embed a Sway on your own website by clicking </> Get embed code, and copying and pasting it to your website's code. Since you are pasting the code to a third-party website, kindly contact the support of that website in regards to embedding Sway to their website service. For more information about sharing Sway, kindly see Share your Sway.

On a different note, you may submit your feedback or suggestion in using Sway through the Sway UserVoice. Submitting your feedback and/or suggestions would help improve Sway.

Hi Amy,

Thanks for this question. I just wanted to reply about creating an embed without an iframe. Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to create this embed without an iframe, because the content is hosted on sway.com and not on WordPress.

Like David mentioned, this feedback - that you'd like a way to embed Sways to WordPress without it feeling like an iframe - would be great suggestion to post on Sway UserVoice.

Thank you!

Thank you for your reply. Rereading my question I see I didn't explain clearly.  Just trying to find a non-clunky way to embed sway so that it appears native and SEO works properly.  I had read a few posts showing ways to do this with oEmbed but I just couldn't get it to work.  Oh well...
