Can not login PIN or Microsoft account after starting in safeboot

I set my pc to boot in safe mode. Now it no longer logs in with my PIN or Microsoft account password.

There is no way to login to change it back to normal boot

1.  Device type. ie Desktop**** etc

4.  Current OS build.  Hit the WIN key, type winver, hit Enter.

Desktop PC

It is the latest insider preview I believe

but since I cant login anymore I cant hit win key and type winveraftersetting to boot in safe mode

I can no longer login with my PIN or Microsoft password.

Hi David,

Do you have bootable media (USB / DVD)? you can try some of the repair options, go back, restore image, etc.

Yes have tried install media, interuptingboot mode 3 times and holding shift when restarting from login screen. All the options tell me there is no admin account or actuakky no accounts are listed. I have also tried bcdedit but just get errors, Once set to boot in safe mode I can not login or do anything. None of the repair options help at all.

Now that you mention it, I experienced that error with the latest build trying to use Safe Mode.

I didn't try to fix my way out of it, instead I restored the OS to its previous working state from a backup image.

Hi,

Try this with installation media...

  Turn Safe Boot Off ...

 1) Select Repair your computer at INSTALL screen
 2) Select Troubleshoot
 3) Select Advanced Options
 4) Select Command Prompt

Enter:   bcdedit /deletevalue {default} safeboot

If that gives an error, use...
bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot

Then restart your machine...

So why haven't you got it backed up? You could try mounting your hard drive in another machine and recover your data that way.

So if you do not get to any kind of OS Screen where you could run the msconfig app and uncheck the Safe boot box your best choice I see here is JohnthePilot last reply.

Edit:  Hope you do not have the OS installed on the Same drive as you Terabyte's of data.

Guess if you are using UEFI BIOS you could try turning off Secure Boot as that has caused problems in the past. You can always turn it back on later when you feel you need it.
