update yesterday ?????

Adds support for a new 360 disc format, which can hold 1 more gigabyte than current discs.  It's being rolled out in waves, so not everyone has received it yet

And I also think it added new languages for Kinect voice recognition

The latest dashboard update allows users to use Paypal to pay for stuff on the Marketplace yet.

That sucks, but you're in the minority by far. 99.99% of everyone with a 360 will take the update just fine. You just happened to be one of the 0.01% or so that a power surge/network interuption/act of god/ect. killed your xbox.

The update made it a lot harder to pirate games, too. It changed how the disk drive works basically, it think not really sure. I know if you flashed you disk drive this update would also make it a paper weight.

[/quote]If you have a flashed DVD drive this update turns it back to a stock firmware that wont read burnt discs. It also makes it so they can't be reflashed with current methods, so only genuine games for the naughty pirates at the moment.

The update also corrupts modded profiles that were being shared in order to allow the use of Games on Demand and XBLA titles without the use of a jtagged console.

All in all I think Microsoft have done a big hit against the pirates.

Thats a good point. I never modded or played pirate games or anything like that. Occasionally though, the kids watch dvds and they are not always ones bought from a shop, will these work?

Home movies on a DVDR will continue to work as normal.

What will happen to people who try and play a burnt game now is that they will only get Play DVD and be able watch that little video telling them to put the game in a 360, the one you get when you put a 360 game in a DVD player.

Not sure but it broke the *** store...
