Streaming to Windows 10 grey screen

I have tried streaming from Xbox to Windows 10, but only ever get a grey screen.  The sound seems to come through, but never video

The test streaming function says that I can stream fine on any quality

I have updated to the latest version of the app and all my graphics card drivers are up to date, it's a Radeon 7400M for reference

Also today, I tried watching a game DVR clip which says.... Error : Video could not be decoded

I'm guessing these might be linked in some way.  Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

Ibanezman360,

I have noticed an occasional issue that immediately when starting streaming the video is all gray, all black, or slightly distorted (just depends). I can normally hit the Xbox Guide button so that the screen changes, then click the B button to go back and everything is fine. It's worth a shot to at least see if that clears up that issue or possibly points to it being linked to the video decode error.

Hi Elf,

Thanks, i've tried that and no difference.  I've also tried downloading the Smartglass App, to see if I can play game clips on there and that doesn't work either, I get the following error message :

mf_media_engine_err_decode : HRESULT - 0x80004005

I'm also having this issue except I can see game DVR clips on my phone. I've installed the media pack and made sure it's the latest version of the Xbox app but no luck.

Exact same problem. Audio works every time, never any video. It doesn't matter what media packs or codecs I install, or how many times I exit/restart/update the app or my Xbox One.

This is a supreme bummer. I've been looking forward to this feature for months.

I'm  having the same error, sound comes through and I can control the Xbox, but video never seems to start.

I'm using a mobility 3650HD. Maybe it has something to do with the legacy AMD cards?

Same problem here...

2 of my 3 machines gives me the grey screen (but sound works).

They are all running the latest driver / paches.

One machine is running a geforce 670 and the other is running the built in Intel HD 4600 graphics.

After a lot of installing and reinstalling and restarting and hair removal i've finally got somewhere

I found the old support files for my laptop and found that my card is actually a 6470m not a 7400m

So I uninstalled everyting and downloaded the official Sony AMD drivers for Windows 8.1 for my laptop

Once restarted this then briefly showed correctly in device manager as the 6470m.  A couple of reboots later it then showed as a 7400m again even though i'd done nothing, and clicking on update driver on the 6470m did nothing before

This is now updated to the latest 15.200.1062.1004 driver so I thought I was back to square one, but now everything seems to work, xbox streaming, and game dvr etc

As I found on the AMD site anything 7300m and below has to be updated via the windows update and not the latest Catalyst software.  So install the offical 8.1 drivers if you can find them and try it

Hope this helps someone !

Edit : I used a proper driver uninstaller from Guru 3d called DDU to wipe it all cleanly
