Mortal Kombat 9 freezing at start menu and all DLC characters have dissapeared from the game.

Delete the DLC characters then download them again.

I tried that several times. No luck. Even when i delete all the DLC and clear the system cache it still freezes right when i press start.

Is it a complete freeze or are you still able to access the console guide to get back to the dashboard?

I'm having the same issue with MK freezing. It either freezes at the character select screen or at the start menu. It just started a few days ago.

Try installing the game to the hard disc and see if that makes any difference.

Hi there everyone (including Microsoft, WarnerBrother's Games and NetherRealm Studios - I hope you're reading this thread), I have exactly the same issue as all of you. Initially I got my copy of Mortal Kombat 9 (MK9) and I played it for near a week straight, completing a number of the character story archs (not the main story campaign), reaching approximately level 78 or so on the Challenge Tower, and unlocking numerous things from the Krypt and the game worked no problems. I stopped playing the game for about a week, in fact I stopped playing the Xbox 360 for about a week, and a week later, when I returned to play MK9, the game crashed on the Main Menu as I pushed the 'A' button on the Single player Fight option.

The crash resulted in a unresponsive and unrecoverable Xbox 360 - The Guide button wouldn't work, and ejecting the disc didn't take the console back to the Xbox Dashboard, the console merely remained frozen on the MK9 start menu secreen. So I rebooted the console and tried again, this time the game completely crashed on the Character select screen of Single player Fight. Other attempts to play the game resulted in the game/console crashing in the Krypt as well as scrolling up the Challenge Tower.

The game chrashes evey time for me now and is not playable. There doesn't seem to be a particular place where the game chrashes - it appears to be time based as to when the game crashes (for example, sit on the main menu for a few seconds are skipping past all the developer/publisher splash pages and it will crash, or quickly skip past the splash pages and press the A button on Single player Fight and the game will likely crash on the character select screen.

After reading several posts on a forum, I made a few tests, one test was to sign out of my main user profile that the game's saved game was attached to, and as I did this and attempted the play the game, the game performed flawlessly. I also tried to simply 'move' the saved game (that is attached to my main user profile) to an external device, so that there was no MK9 data on the Xbox at all. At which point, I then proceeded to play the game under my main user profile, hence creating a 'new' saved game file, and again, the game worked flawlessly.

It appears to me, that this particular crash that people are having is to do with cor-- or should I say, 'korrupted' saved game files, although, it is uncertain to me as to what is causing the saved games to become corrupt.

Is there anyway to create a patch to not only fix the game, but also repair the saved games, because I made significant progress in my saved game and I really don't wish to do it all over again. I should note that I have Mortal Kombat 'Komplete Edition'... so there is 'no' DLC, as all DLC is already packed onto the disc.

Hey guys i solved this problem. All u have to is erase caché memory from all ur saving devices

Good luck with that. Erasing cache memory does not erase ur progress u just have to install updates again wich takes one minute :-D
